JEP 2019
This year, 5th and 6th class pupils are taking part in the Junior Entrepreneur Program (JEP). This program is for young entrepreneurs to come up with creative and unique ideas. We invited three dragons to judge the products and pick the best idea to work on for the next stages of the program. The Dragons consisted of Shane McGowan, Systems Director, C.B.E, Claremorris, Fiachra Groarke, Chairperson of our Board of Management, Chris Boyle, retired teacher and member of the Board of Management.
At first, Ms. Heneghan divided the students into six groups of five and each group came up with their own idea to work together on. The groups consisted of GAA Headbanz, School Supplies Surprise Bundles, Creative Bookmarks, Tie Die T- Shirts, Brain Games and The Gaelic Essentials. All pupils presented their product confidently and clearly. The dragons deliberated for some time and told us that it was very difficult to choose. The team that stood out most to the dragons was Creative Bookmarks. The winning idea Creative Bookmarks is a well thought out product by Amy, Rachel, Emma, Emily and Rebecca from 5th class. They are colourful bookmarks with different quotes and sayings printed on the front. You can add your own saying or quote by request. These consist of family quotes for parents, siblings, grandparents etc. and would make a lovely gift. We hope that we will get plenty of support with our business.
The next stage of the program is to sell the chosen idea in school and hopefully to some shops and businesses in Claremorris. The class will work together over the next few weeks and hopefully run a profitable business.
